Koda can provide intumescent fireproofing for domestic and commercial properties in compliance with fire safety regulatory reform and health and safety guidelines.

Koda can upgrade many existing panelled doors to fire door rating as well installing new. We can also install fire and smoke seals, hinge protection, letterbox units and animal flaps.

Upgrading Exisiting Doors
Exisiting panel doors (which are greater than 32mm thick) can generally be upgraded to fire door rating with an intumescent coating. The coating is available clear or in a range of colours and in gloss, semi-gloss and matt finishes. Existing varnish, golden decorations or paints do not need to be removed – the intumescent coating can be applied directly over the existing finish.

Installation of new fireproof doors
Koda can supply and fit a variety of styles of new fireproof doors.

Installation of fire and smoke seals to doors and windows
Intumescent fire and smoke seals are fitted into rebates in doors and/or frames. The standard ratings of seals are 60 minutes however a 30 minutes, economy version available.

Letterbox units
Fire doors requiring a letterbox must have an intumescent fire and smoke protection letterbox system. This comprises an intumescent liner for fire protection of the door, a front frame/sprung flap containing brush smoke seal, and either another frame/sprung flap or security hood containing smoke seal at the rear.

Animal Flaps
Animal flaps can be fitted to fire doors. The animal flap itself is not fireproof - an intumescent cover which surrounds the opening for the flap is installed. In the event of a fire the intumescent material will only start to expand at 120C, allowing animals plenty of time to escape but retaining the integrity of the fire door.
